In The Rain - E. E. Cummings

in the rain-
darkness,     the sunset
being sheathed i sit and
think of you

the holy
city which is your face
your little cheeks the streets
of smiles

your eyes half-
thrush
half-angel and your drowsy
lips where float flowers of kiss

and
there is the sweet shy pirouette
your hair
and then

your dancesong
soul.     rarely-beloved
a single star is
uttered,and i

think
       of you

The reason as to why I chose this poem is that I find this poem quite beautiful. It talks of a person thinking of another person whom they seem to be in love with. It mentions of quite lovely things such as the "sunset", "smiles", "angel", "flowers of kiss", "sweet shy pirouette", "dancesong soul" and "single star is uttered". The use of the words build up a beautiful imagery in the readers mind and though ambiguous, the poem itself is indeed quite charming.
